Drinking Water

The City of Lebanon receives water from the South Santiam River through a new water intake built in 2018. The surface water is then pumped to the new Lebanon Water Treatment Plant. The plant treats the surface water through a combination of micro-filtration technology and disinfection to provide clean, safe drinking water. The water plant is operated by the City of Lebanon and produces an average of 2 million gallons per day, and has an effective capacity of 4.5 million gallons per day.

Transmission, storage, and distribution of the water after treatment is handled by the water section of the Public Works Maintenance Services Division. The City has approximately 80 miles of water main ranging in size from 2 to 16 inches in diameter. Information on the water flow at different fire hydrants in the City is indicated by the color of the hydrants. This helps the Fire District to locate the right hydrant when fighting a fire.

Lebanon's drinking water is tested frequently and the results can be found in the Consumer Confidence Reports. Click here for past summary reports.
