Planning Commission

The Planning Commission serves as a quasi-judicial committee and advises the City Council. They have the authority to make binding decisions regarding land use activities on public and private property. The Commission is governed by the Lebanon Municipal Code Title 16, and Oregon Revised Statutes 227 and 197.  LMC 2.24

Membership: The Commission consists of up to nine members - a minimum of five regular members, with the balance as alternates. A majority of members must reside within city limits. No more than two members shall reside outside the urban grown boundary of the city. Remaining members may reside within the urban growth boundary of the city but outside city limits. The term of office is four years. 

Article 6, Chapter 16.31 of the Lebanon Municipal Code establishes the Planning Commission as the City’s official Historic Landmark Commission. This commission has authority over the Lebanon historic register and provides criteria for decisions regarding inventorying, as well as proposed alterations and demolitions of historic resources.  LMC 16.31

Planning Commission members are required to file an annual Statement of Economic Interest (SEI) disclosure form with the Oregon Government Ethics Commission. 

The Planning Commission typically meets the third Wednesday of every month at 6:00 pm at the Santiam Travel Station located at 750 S. 3rd Street.
